He may be the lovable dimwitted son of the Dunphys on "Modern Family," but Nolan Gould is no dummy! In fact, he's a member of Mensa! He showed off his brainpower when he sat down with Ellen for one hilarious interview.

Of all the films, documentaries and retrospectives I've seen on Glenn Gould, this one is my favorite. It was written, directed, and narrated by Vincent Tovell and Eric Till. That this documentary is out-of-print is a crime. (Anyone from the CBC listening?) As far as I know, this film is unavailable for viewing anywhere online (except here). One of the things that makes this documentary so wonderful is that it was made only three short years after Glenn's untimely death in 1982 at age 50. The love and the pain on the faces and in the voices of all the interviewees, especially his dear cousin, Jesse Greig, is palpable. If you've seen "32 Short Films on Glenn Gould," you'll notice that it "borrowed" heavily from this documentary. (It seems to me that François Girard lifted entire segments.) I enjoyed the film; I prefer the documentary. I apologize for the crappy video and audio quality. I ripped this straight from an old VHS tape, using One Touch Video Capture. It's the best I could do. I guess sometimes you just can't keep that creaky chair from creaking. May Glenn Gould forgive me.

Pianist: Glenn Gould (1932 - 1982) Photos: All rights reserved to Life magazine The majority of the photos were taken during the recording sessions for Gould's 1955 debut recording of the Goldbergs. While I realize the "Gouldbergs" are in abundant supply here on YouTube, I felt I would give a rendition of my own. I wanted to do something in tribute of Glenn, and I couldn't come up with a better idea than the Goldbergs. I hope they capture as many new listeners as old, and perhaps make fans for Bach and Gould alike.

Here is Glenn Gould playing famous sonata K 331 by Mozart. I decided to post it after watching the video ''Gould plays Mozart'' on youtube where Gould talks about his way of playing Mozart, he didn't play full 1st movement in that video. www.youtube.com

Glenn Gould on Sviatoslav Richter, and in particular his interpretation of Schubert. UPDATE re: the voice in this clip -- it turns out that this was taken from a Russian TV program, in which Gould originally spoke in English but was later overdubbed in Russian. The original English audio was lost, and it had to be re-overdubbed in English, using the text of Gould's comments (which is stored at the National Library of Canada). So while the voice is not Gould's, the comments are.
